Tartan Golf, Tennis and Volleyball Programs Gear Up for Fall Success

St. Margaret's enjoyed mid-season victories on the course and the courts this week.
Golf

St. Margaret's defeated Samueli Academy 195-296 Thursday afternoon at River View Golf Course.

Gabby Eifrig supported the team win, shooting a 33, while teammates Kate Lee and Madison Lewis contributed scores of 35. Jenny Cha and Branda Hu rounded out the Tartan scoring with 48.

St. Margaret's returns to the links to face The Webb School on Tuesday, Sept. 21 at San Juan Hills Golf Course.

Tennis

The Tartans pulled out a victory in total games 9-9 (76-65) against Crean Lutheran at Saddleback College Thursday afternoon. With the win, St. Margaret's improves to 4-1 on the year.

St. Margaret's was led by its singles play, sweeping the Saints in nine sets. Kate Purpura, Angela Liu and Grace Nolet all recorded wins for the Tartans.

“It was an exciting, hard-fought match yesterday. I always talk about each game being important no matter the set score, and the girls did a great job competing and trying to scrap out any game they could. That ended up being the difference as we tied 9-9 but won on total games," said head coach Scott Lipsky. "It was a good test for us as we jump back into league play next week with two matches."

Volleyball

Coming off of a successful showing at the Dave Mohs Memorial Tournament last weekend, St. Margaret's relished a 3-0 sweep of hosts Sage Hill School in girls volleyball league action Thursday night.

The Tartans relied on an efficient middle attack, notching 10 kills on 13 attempts with zero errors. A balanced effort powered St. Margaret's through three sets to post the win.

St. Margaret's will next take on visiting CVCS on Tuesday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. in Pasternack Field House.
