Tartan Football Coach Kory Minor Honored by Play Like a Champion Today

Coach Minor is a "Champion Coach of the Week."
St. Margaret's head football coach Kory Minor has been honored as a Champion Coach of the Week by Play Like a Champion Today, an organization dedicated to providing leadership in a worldwide effort to change the culture of youth sports.

Play Like a Champion Today partners with over 230 schools and sports organizations to advocate for and develop scientifically-based and ethically directed educational programs to promote children's physical, social, emotional and moral development to last a lifetime.

Minor, the Tartans' head football coach since 2018, states that his goal is to "affect his athletes' lives for the good in the short and long term." Kory was a team captain for the University of Notre Dame football program and played in the NFL for the San Francisco 49ers and the Carolina Panthers. Minor also acts as a Los Angeles area trainer for the Play Like a Champion organization.

"When you have the chance to provide enormous impact on and off the field, it doesn't get much better than that," remarked coach Minor.

According to the Play Like a Champion website, the organization "is proud to celebrate coaches who demonstrate a Champion approach to youth and high school sports, developing young athletes in virtue as well as skill. These coaches serve as models for coaches everywhere as they develop athletes not only physically, but socially, emotionally and morally."

Coach Minor will lead the Tartans this Friday as St. Margaret's hosts Riverside Prep on Tartan Field at 7 p.m.
