Nine St. Margaret's track & field athletes competed in the finals this past Saturday.
Nine St. Margaret's track & field athletes represented the school at the CIF-SS Div. IV Track & Field Finals on Saturday, June 12, at Carpinteria High School. The Tartans equated themselves well, reaching the podium in two events to close out the 2021 campaign.

Jackson Adelman picked up his third career CIF title, winning the 1600m with a time of 4:18.41, while running mate Calvin Capelle turned in a 4:27.58 time, placing him fifth in the event.

The Tartan girls 4x1 team of Malia Todd, Sophia Kistler, Sophia Karahalios and Makenna Lizarde placed sixth with a time of 50.08. The girls 4x4 squad consisting of Annabel Thiel, Sophia Kistler, Malia Todd and Makenna Lizarde also placed sixth with a tremendous effort of 4:11.90. Makenna Lizarde improved from ninth place to seventh place in the 200m with a time of 25.98.

In field events, Celeste Taylor cleared 11 feet in the pole vault, good for a second-place finish.

"Our kids did great at the CIF Championships. But what makes this group of kids so special is that they genuinely care about each other and compete for not just themselves but their St. Margaret's teammates as well," said head coach Edgar Vazquez. "And to top things off, Jackson Adelman bringing home a CIF banner in the 1600m is icing on the cake. I am so proud of them all and how they represented St. Margaret's. Good luck to all our seniors in college; you made this program better. Thank you!"
