Seniors Bryce Chan and Nick Ostlund are NHSSCA All-American Athletes

This award is given annually to high school athletes who have demonstrated outstanding achievement on and off the field in regards to strength and conditioning, athletic performance, academics and leadership.
Seniors Bryce Chan and Nick Ostlund have been recognized as National High School Strength and Conditioning Association All-American Athletes for 2021. The award is given annually to high school athletes who have demonstrated outstanding achievement on and off the field in regards to strength and conditioning, athletic performance, academics and leadership.

Chan, a Tartans girls soccer program member, has committed to and will study and play soccer at NCAA Div. III New York University in the fall. Ostlund, a three-sport athlete at St. Margaret's (football, basketball and track & field), will take his talents to the University of Pennsylvania, where he will join the Quakers' football program this summer.

"During our time together, Bryce has displayed talents in leadership, work ethic, soccer skill and all while maintaining a high level of academic excellence," said St. Margaret's head girls soccer coach Jennifer Anderson-Hammond. "From the time I have been at SMES, she has impressed me with her willingness to be a team player, intrinsically motivated and always willing to help her teammates."

"Nick's leadership in the weight room and on the field has positively impacted all athletes at St. Margaret's," said St. Margaret's strength and conditioning coach Mike Davis. "For a small school with 400 high school students, Nick has raised the expectations for what is possible to achieve in a high school career. Nick's character and contributions to St. Margaret's will never graduate."

The National High School Strength Coaches Association's (NHSSCA) mission is to educate, equip and empower coaches to make a positive impact in the lives of student-athletes. Dan Berman, head strength and conditioning coach for the St. Margaret's athletic program, nominated the award-winning athletes based on their athletic, academic and leadership accomplishments.

"The NHSSSCA All-American award was designed for athletes like Bryce and Nick," Mr. Berman said. "It's an award that honors and recognizes a high level of work over time. Character and high expectations are a part of our core values and Bryce and Nick have demonstrated these values during their entire high school careers on the way to this accomplishment."
