Class of 2028 Celebrates Move to Middle School With Traditional Red Sweater Toss
St. Margaret’s grade 5 students were given a fond farewell by the Lower School this week, as the Tartans were celebrated at their final Chapel, followed by a clap-out and the traditional red sweater toss.
St. Margaret’s grade 5 students were given a fond farewell by the Lower School this week, as the Tartans were celebrated at their final Chapel, followed by a clap-out and the traditional red sweater toss near the Middle School they will call home next year.
The celebration is a cherished Lower School tradition, a chance for younger students to ceremoniously say farewell to their older peers after the final Chapel of the school year. Grade 5 students attended the final Chapel in-person, while the rest of the Lower School watched remotely from their classrooms. The Chapel included an “Ode to Grade 5” with teachers from each grade, special-subject and remote learning teachers, as well as the Lower School office participating in the message.
This year, the red sweaters officially were tossed at the Grade 5 family picnic, where families and the Lower School professional community safely gathered to celebrate the milestone year and look ahead to new beginnings.
Congratulations to the Class of 2028, and best wishes as you move on to Middle School!
