PTF Completes Successful Fundraising Year Supporting Education-Enhancing Grants for 2021-2022 School Year

More than $140,000 in educational and student program grants will enrich the learning environment of the entire student body,
St. Margaret’s Parent Teacher Fellowship announced at its General Membership Meeting on Thursday more than $140,000 in educational and student program grants from requests by the professional community this school year that will enrich the learning environment of the entire student body, and support the school community next school year. Educational grants awarded this year include new resources for the Early Childhood School Outdoor Classroom and Atelier, expanded reading and library resources for the Lower and Middle Schools, and cinematic arts and athletics equipment in the Upper School.

PTF Grants are funded through the success of annual PTF events and programs that engage Tartans in community building and fundraising, which this year included: the PTF Online Auction in April, the 39th Annual PTF Library Luncheon Wanderlust, a virtual event this year in April, the PTF Book Fair in March and Forever Plaid: Tartans Together all-school fundraiser in November.

“We are so thankful for the generosity our school community showed at all the PTF events that took place this year,” PTF President Dana Melsom said. “Thanks to the tireless work of so many people, this year’s events were a great success despite the numerous challenges. These PTF grants are a direct reflection of that, and the PTF is thrilled to have the opportunity to lift up our students in this way.”

Head of School Will Moseley said, “The PTF Grants Program is the result of the extraordinary efforts and leadership of the PTF and a manifestation of our parents’ unconditional love and commitment to our students and our school—a true blessing. These grants directly impact the vibrant learning environment and the learning and growth of every St. Margaret’s student. We are incredibly grateful to our parents for their engagement and generosity and to the PTF for their tireless efforts in all the events and programs they implement each year, with meticulous perfection and especially in this challenging year, to bring our community together in fellowship and in their partnership always striving to improve the learning experience of our students.”

The PTF invites members of the professional community to submit requests to fund learning resources and tools and explain how they will enhance and expand the academic and student program. The PTF Grant cycle typically includes two rounds each year, fall and spring, to support program needs throughout the year, and includes unique requests each year, as well as recurring annual standing grants and restricted funds the PTF allocates for specific school program needs.

St. Margaret’s PTF continued these important grants despite unprecedented challenges for fundraising and fellowship of this past year, and as a result condensed the program into one spring 2021 grant cycle. Last school year, the PTF gifted $63,000 in resources and enrichment grants to support the school’s academic and student programs during fall 2019, then committed $100,000 toward the St. Margaret’s Emergency Financial Aid Program established in April 2020 by the Board of Trustees in response to the emerging pandemic.
