‘Capture the Flag Night’ Among Fun End-of-School-Year Activities for Middle School Students

Other activities this month include a movie night and a beach day.
Chalmers Field was alive with laughter, competitiveness and a fun class-bonding activity for 67 students who attended “Grade 8 Capture the Flag Night” last week, an event organized by the Middle School.

After enjoying food from the TK Burger truck, the students and Middle School professional community listened to music and socialized, while waiting for the sun to set. Then, the glow sticks came on, and an epic four-quarter game of Capture the Flag commenced.

The teams –coached by Eric Harrington (blue), Edgar Vazquez (pink), Kevin Estipular (green) and Mike Allison (orange) – squared off, with Middle School Principal Jeannine Clarke and Director of Community Life Kylie Middlebrook serving as referees.

“It was such a blast,” Mrs. Middlebrook said. “The students had a great time and were so competitive. The pink team ultimately took the win, but we rewarded all of the participants with a free dress day."

Earlier this month, the Middle School hosted a Friday evening movie night on campus, with a showing of Despicable Me on Chalmers Field. The fun will continue on Monday, when grade 8 students will take part in a beach day, which will include a tour of The Ocean Institute in Dana Point.

“We are so thrilled to be able to do these fun activities for the students," Mrs. Middlebrook said. "It is wonderful to have these memorable moments after such a challenging year.”
