Grade 5 Students Apply STEAM Creativity in OC Fair Imaginology Contests
St. Margaret’s students created digital art, paper collages, paintings and photography to be entered in Imaginology’s student competition.
St. Margaret’s grade 5 students engaged in an exciting exploration of STEAM-related experiences through the Orange County Fair’s Imaginology program, which was capped off by students submitting their creations into a virtual competition against other students from around the county.
This is the third year St. Margaret’s grade 5 STEAM block participated in the program. While Imaginology is typically an in-person event at the OC Fairgrounds, this year’s program was titled “Imaginology Goes Virtual” with students participating from their campuses. As part of the unit, St. Margaret’s students created digital art, paper collages, paintings and photography to be entered in Imaginology’s student competition.
“Students worked for about four weeks on all the projects combined and created different work in each class,” said Lower School art teacher Mary Mayer-Grubb, who led the unit with fellow grade 5 STEAM teachers David Beshk and Laura Redman.
Each student uploaded several pieces of work into the contest, and all received virtual ribbons. One Tartan, Rhys Thomas, was the division winner for his digital art creation.
