Tartan Baseball Beats CVCS as League Title Hunt Heats Up

St. Margaret's downed the Eagles 6-4 Tuesday evening.
The Tartans took another step closer to the league title and a postseason berth by defeating cross-town rival Capistrano Valley Christian School 6-4 in action at San Juan Sports Park Tuesday evening. Solid performances on the mound and timely offense made the difference for the Tartans.

Pitchers Andrew Miehe (four strikeouts, one earned run over 3.2 innings) and Sean Olvera-Harle (seven strikeouts over 3.1 innings) excelled for the Tartans on the bump. Hunter Smith sparked the offense, going 2-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

"The goal for any coach is to see improvement throughout the season. Despite our youth, inexperience and injuries, we've got a team starting to figure out how to win," said head coach Scott Wallis. "We still make too many mistakes to be a championship team, but if we can clean up some of those, we might be able to surprise some people."

The Tartans will take on CVCS again on Saturday, April 15 at San Juan Sports Park. First pitch is slated for 11:00 a.m.
