St. Margaret's Track & Field Programs Set the Pace This Weekend

The Tartans showed their prowess at two high-profile events.
The Tartan track & field program equated itself well this past weekend, participating in two competitive events.

At the Arcadia Invite, St. Margaret’s faced stiff competition from across the country at one of the premier track and field events in the United States. Undeterred, the Tartans did not back down with Jackson Adelman setting a personal best time (4:19.60) in the mile run, placing him seventh amongst a talented field.  Celeste Taylor broke her school record in the pole vault for the third time this season with an 11'3" vault, placing her 10th amongst competitors.

The Tartans also represented well at the Asics Distance Carnival, which brought together some of the best distance runners in Southern California. Makenna Lizarde excelled in the 400m, setting a blistering pace of 1:00.30, good for the No. 10 spot in CIF Div. IV. Lizarde also holds marks in the top 10 in the 100m, 200, 4x1 and 4x4.

Sophia Kistler eclipsed her personal best by four seconds, notching a 1:03.63 in the 400m. The time sits her just second to Lizarde in league competition.

Claire Mullen turned in a solid 5.33.90 performance in the 1600m, placing her at No. 12 in CIF Div. IV.

The Tartans will return to competition at the OC Championships on Saturday, May 15.
