Tartan Baseball and Boys Golf Programs Notch Mid-Season Wins

The baseball team keeps the postseason firmly in their sights, while the golf team remains undefeated in league.

The Tartans traveled to The Webb Schools for the rubber match in the San Joaquin League series, coming away with a 7-6 victory over the Gauls.
 
Andrew Miehe crushed a grand slam in the fourth inning to keep the Tartans rolling. Hunter Smith also contributed to the offense, going 2-4 at the plate.
 
Brothers Shane and Sean Olvera-Harle shared pitching duties, with Shane notching the win and producing four strikeouts over five innings pitched. Sean recorded the save with two strikeouts over two innings pitched.
 
The win keeps St. Margaret's postseason hopes alive and in the league title hunt with three games remaining against cross-town rival Capistrano Valley Christian Schools.
 
"The team is starting to figure out how to win big games against quality opponents," said head coach Scott Wallis. "You love to see it."
 
The Tartans take on CVCS on May 11 at San Juan Sports Park at 6:30 p.m.
 
Boys Golf
 
St. Margaret's enjoyed having all eight varsity golfers competing at the same event Thursday afternoon, defeating CVCS 190-242 at San Juan Hills Golf Course.
 
The Tartans produced consistent scores on the par-36 course, with Roy Cheng (37, three birdies), Keegan Carnell (38, two birdies), Cameron Danz (38, seven pars), Graden Huang (38, one birdie), Steven Ma (39, six pars), David Jiang (40, one birdie), Quinn Kyle (41, four pars) and Jake Reeves (48, two pars) competing for the Tartans.
 
The win puts St. Margaret's at 6-0 in league play and 7-4 overall.
 
The Tartans will next compete in the Villa Park Tournament on Monday, May 10.
