4 Tartans Named Semifinalists for OC Artist of the Year

They are among 105 semifinalists from around the county from an initial nomination list of 616 artists.
Four Upper School students have been honored as semifinalists by the Orange County Register’s OC Artist of the Year program. They are among 105 semifinalists from around the county from an initial nomination list of 616 artists.
 
The artists are chosen from seven disciplines—dance, film/animation, instrumental music, vocal music, theater, computer-assisted visual arts and handcrafted visual arts. Those disciplines are further divided into specialties, and one artist from each specialty (24 total) will be named finalists. Seven students, one per discipline, will be named OC Artist of the Year.

Theater
Senior Tatiana Cloobeck was one of 15 semifinalists in Theater, out of 151 nominees. Tatiana is one of six semifinalists specializing in musical theater performance.
 
Computer-Assisted Visual Arts
Senior Sophia Hy Wang was one of 15 semifinalists in Computer-Assisted Visual Arts, out of 59 nominees. Sophia is one of five nominees specializing in computer drawing and painting.
 
Handcrafted Visual Arts
St. Margaret’s Upper School students Claire Ahn and Nicole Swensen were named semifinalists in Handcrafted Visual Arts. They are among the 15 semifinalists out of 60 total nominees in the discipline.
 
Claire, a senior, is one of five semifinalists specializing in hand drawing and painting. Nicole, a junior, is one of three semifinalists specializing in sculpting and metalwork.
