Thank You! Parent Survey Yields High Participation and Strong Support for Every Tartan, Every Day Plan

Parents were asked for feedback in several key areas including student health measures and safety on campus, communication, academic support, technology, emotional support, student sense of belonging and the concurrent learning program.
St. Margaret’s recent survey of parents showed high approval on the school’s implementation of its innovative Every Tartan, Every Day plan launched in July 2020 that allowed campus to be open for all students every day since the fall of the 2020-2021 school year and equally supported students with unique circumstances to learn concurrently from home. Parents were asked for feedback in several key areas including student health measures and safety on campus, communication, academic support, technology, emotional support, student sense of belonging and the concurrent learning program. The survey also included overarching questions regarding delivery of the school’s mission and how likely parents would be to recommend the school to a friend or colleague.

Parent participation was very strong with 648 responses. Parents were asked to submit an individual survey for each child, resulting in a sample that represents parent perspectives for more than half of all St. Margaret’s students.

The overall feedback on the parent survey was very positive and affirming of St. Margaret’s execution of its Every Tartan Every Day plan.  “We are grateful for the incredible trust and partnership from our parent community this year amidst a dynamic global health crisis impacting an often uncertain and evolving local health situation,” said Head of School Will Moseley.  “The overwhelming response rate and positive feedback affirm our shared commitment to providing a safe and nurturing in-person learning experience for our students this school year, while supporting individual unique needs of students and families.  We also appreciated the constructive feedback as we design elements of next year’s program within the improving local health situation, and continue to lean into our culture of innovation.

“Together, we have achieved so much this year—much more than we might have imagined back in March 2020. We have faced unforeseeable and unforgettable challenges, and have grown in extraordinary, unexpected ways. We are incredibly grateful and inspired by the grit, ingenuity and perseverance of our students, families and our professional community. We are irrevocably changed by this past year, and in true St. Margaret’s fashion we will continue to put these valuable lessons and new solutions to work to keep advancing all aspects of our school program for our students in the years ahead,” said Mr. Moseley.

The parent survey data will be discussed further, along with updates on plans for the 2021-2022 school year, at the next PTF General Membership Meeting on Thursday, May 20 at 9:30 a.m. held virtually.
