St. Margaret's Baseball, Lacrosse Programs Win as Spring Action Heats Up

The Tartans picked up key early-season wins on Tuesday.

The Tartans improved to 3-2 on the year, defeating Sage Hill 6-1 on the road Tuesday afternoon.
 
St. Margaret's received a strong effort from pitcher Andrew Miehe with five strikeouts and no hits over five innings pitched. Miehe also went two for four batting and scored two runs. Shane Olvera-Harle also excelled on the mound, notching three strikeouts in one inning of relief. Olvera-Harle contributed offensively as well, driving in three runs and stealing three bases.
 
"We haven't started playing to our potential yet, and the guys are still learning what having a ‘feel’ for the game means," said head coach Scott Wallis. "Hopefully, a couple wins in a row will start getting us on the right track."
 
The Tartans will face Rancho Christian this Saturday, April 17, at San Juan Sports Park at 11 a.m.
 
Boys Lacrosse
 
St. Margaret's thumped visiting Santiago 20-4 in action on Tartan Field Tuesday evening.
 
Owen Binder led scorers with six goals and two assists, while Will Stahl (5g, 1a), Riley Chester (3g, 2a) and Makai Todd (2g, 2a) rounded out St. Margaret's attack.
 
Defensively, netminder Sebastian Chicas recorded nine saves and Hayden Chester picked up a team-high five ground balls.
 
St. Margaret's returns to action on Saturday, April 17, facing Palos Verdes on the road. Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
