Tartans Triumph as Sport Seasons Ramp Up

Boys golf, lacrosse and girls tennis picked up wins on Tuesday evening.
Boys Golf

The Tartans recorded a solid 185-186 win against Edison High School at Tijeras Creek Golf Club on Tuesday afternoon. Both teams played spectacular golf, with St. Margaret's captains David Jiang and Graden Huang turning in stellar rounds of 36. Keegan Carnell finished with a one-over-par 37 while Cameron Danz and Steven Ma played to scores of 38.

St. Margaret's will return to the links against Edison on April 7.

Girls Tennis

St. Margarets sunk Pacifica Christian 9(75)-9(62) in league action at Laguna Niguel Racquet Club on Tuesday afternoon.

The Tartans were led in the win by Seychelle Balog's 3-set sweep. The St. Margaret's doubles teams of Rori Ghahreman and Sophia Karahalios, Greta Wagner and Annabel Thiel and Isabella Karmis and Nadia Momtaz all went 2/3 set wins on the afternoon.

"It was a close, hard-fought match with Pacifica. It came down to total games won, and I have been telling the girls that every game matters no matter what the score is," said head coach Scott Lipsky. "We got important games from all of our players whether they won or lost their sets, and that was the difference in this tight match."

Boys Lacrosse

The Tartans rebounded from a 13-9 loss to Mater Dei on March 27, thumping Servite 13-1 on Tuesday evening.

Matt Groeninger led the way with five points (3g, 2a), while Will Stahl (2g, 2a) and Makai Todd (2g, 2a) contributed four points each. Riley Chester (2g), Owen Binder (2g, 1a), Dylan Lam (1g) and Seth Forstot (1g, 1a) rounded out the scoring for St. Margaret's.

Net-minder Sebastian Chicas made seven saves and maintained an 87.5% save percentage. Face-off man Bobby Springer went 15/17 at the x and collected nine ground balls.

St. Margaret's will next face Santa Fe Christian at home on April 6 at 7:30 p.m.
