Alex Smith '19 Named Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American

Smith hit .368 with 4 doubles and 9 RBI in 38 at-bats in a shortened season.
Alumnus Alex Smith '19, a catcher at the United States Naval Academy, has been selected as a 2020 Collegiate Baseball Freshman All American. The honor marks Smith as only the 13th different Navy baseball player to earn the selection.

Smith made 12 appearances and 10 starts for the Midshipmen and finished the shortened 2020 campaign with a .368 batting average and a team-leading .526 slugging percentage. Also notable, Smith became the first player in Patriot League history to be named Patriot League Player and Rookie of the Week following his breakout game against Massachusetts in March.
