WOW Night Celebration for Early Childhood Students!

The Works of Wonder event, held via Zoom, shined a spotlight on the students’ learning, growth, exploration, discovery, resilience and accomplishments throughout the school year.
The Early Childhood School faculty did not let social distancing keep them from celebrating with their students and families for the second annual WOW Night 2020! The Works of Wonder event, held via Zoom, shined a spotlight on the students’ learning, growth, exploration, discovery, resilience and accomplishments throughout this somewhat unconventional school year.

Head of School Will Moseley and Dr. Cris Lozon, director of the Early Childhood School echoed sentiments of gratitude and praise of the tremendous partnership and efforts of parents to extend the St. Margaret’s Early Childhood play-based curriculum at home during the school closure for continuous student learning in ways that children learn and grow best.

After watching a film showcase of a schoolwide study and exploration of trees, each child and family were presented a comprehensive Works of Wonder library to enjoy that showcased images and films by content areas and classes of their student projects from the entire year well documented by their loving teachers.

The children wore their new Tartan sunhats and shared a celebratory toast to the year with apple juice and lemonade gifted to them in a WOW Night Celebration goodie bag by their teachers at a special campus drive-thru pickup event earlier in the week.

“We love our children (and parents!) so much and are beaming with pride and joy over their incredible enthusiasm for learning, the leaps and bounds of their development and growth and the remarkable tenacity and resilience they have shown, especially within a strong community framework, over the course of the year and these last few months. WOW night is a showcase of the children’s thoughts and understanding through words and pictures, making their learning visible. It is an amazing opportunity to also have our children reflect on their own learning and growth. It is always fun to show that back to them each year and watch them marvel at their own growth—which is why this is always a ‘WOW! Night’,” said Dr. Cris.

“It was also a wonderful treat for our entire Early Childhood School faculty to see our students smiling faces, and to cheer for them with all our love and appreciation in person through their car windows earlier this week. We send our most heartfelt congratulations to each of our students, and we can’t wait to be back with them in the Early Childhood School or watching them as Kindergarteners next year!”
