Lower School Introduces Daily ‘Virtual Recess’ With Fun Interactive Activities

The virtual recess sessions provide connection and community for students with activities that are fun, interactive and accessible.
St. Margaret’s Lower School is conducting daily “virtual recess” sessions on Zoom, inviting all Lower School students to take part in fun, elective activities led by Lower School teachers.

The first virtual recess was a live art session led by Lower School art teacher Mary Mayer-Grubb. More than 45 students took part as they used pencils, paper and coloring materials to remotely take part in an art lesson. It was followed by a fun science lesson with David Beshk and a Disney sing-a-long.

Upcoming virtual recesses include a comedy hour, a talent show, a pet show-and-tell, games like bingo, a scavenger hunt and LEGO building.

“The virtual recess sessions provide connection and community for our students with activities that are fun, interactive and accessible,” Lower School Director of Community Life Tupper Spring said. “Students love seeing the different teachers who are leading these activities, and are excited for all the fun ideas that are planned for the rest of the school year.”
