St. Margaret’s Welcomes CEO Katlyn Grasso for Presentation on Purpose-Driven Entrepreneurship

The CEO and founder of GenHERation spoke about her experiences as an entrepreneur and a purpose-driven agent of change in the world.

In line with St. Margaret’s yearlong goal of helping students discover the power of purpose, the Upper School last week welcomed Katlyn Grasso, CEO and founder of GenHERation to speak about her experiences as an entrepreneur and a purpose-driven agent of change in the world.

Ms. Grasso is a graduate of the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and as an entreprenuer had developed four companies by the time she was 25. In an engaging presentation to the entire Upper School, she spoke of the power of being able to persevere after being repeatedly told no, and the power to being open to pitching your ideas to anyone—which culminated in asking if any students were interested in pitching their ideas.

Ms. Grasso also held office hours in the Upper School for smaller group settings for students to ask questions.

GenHERation is a network of more than 250,000 members where young women and companies connect through digital platforms and national events. Ms. Grasso has also started two nonprofits, a dance exercise program and a technology commercialization venture.

“Katlyn’s story inspired our students to recognize that with interest, effort and a willingness to embrace uncertainty, they can be agents of change in their communities and beyond,” Upper School Principal Jeneen Graham said. “We are grateful to be connected to Katlyn and her work and look forward to more opportunities to share lives of purpose and meaning with our students.”
