St. Margaret’s celebrated its science, technology, engineering, art and math programs and projects in the Lower School last week at the 9th annual Lower School STEAM Night in Campaigne Center.

The event serves as a fun way to celebrate a love of STEAM while also showcasing projects that students grades K-5 have worked on this school year. Students from all divisions, from Early Childhood School to the Upper School, participated.

The fun-filled night featured:

  • Student projects from every grade were on display, which were created in art, science and technology classes as well as the grades 4 and 5 STEAM blocks.
  • Always a favorite, animals were brought in for attendees to hold, view or touch, including reptiles, hedgehogs, tarantulas and armadillos.
  • There were various stations set up where students could create things from “binary bracelets” using coding concepts, to a LEGO building challenge.
  • Students could try out St. Margaret’s Google Expedition Cart headsets and various virtual-reality programs.
  • A station was set up showing different art and science projects taking place in the Early Childhood School.
  • The Lower School field was busy with stomp rockets for students and an underwater remotely operated vehicle (ROV) for students to try.
  • The after-school MedTac program set up a station where attendees could learn more about CPR and other medical-related techniques from a certified CPR instructor and paramedic.
