St. Margaret’s Hosts Orange County Early-Childhood Educators for Reggio Roundtable Event

The event, titled “Construction of Knowledge Through Play,” featured a tour of St. Margaret’s renowned Early Childhood School and a presentation by Dr. Lozon.
St. Margaret’s hosted more than 50 early-childhood instructors recently for an Orange County Reggio Roundtable event led by SMES Early Childhood School Director Cris Lozon.
 
The event, titled “Construction of Knowledge Through Play,” featured a tour of St. Margaret’s renowned Early Childhood School, including the Ingrid S. Andrews Outdoor Classroom and revamped learning spaces such as the Demonstration Lab and Atelier (art studio).
 
Dr. Lozon then led a presentation in McGregor Family Theater which focused on how children build their own knowledge through play, providing current scientific research on early learning.
 
The Orange County Reggio Roundtable is a group of early-childhood educators whose work aligns with or is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to teaching. St. Margaret’s play-based, research-based academic program has roots in constructivist teaching and Reggio Emilia.
