Upper School Recognizes Academic Achievement, Commitment to Community at Honors Assembly
The assembly featured speeches by two seniors, who shared what commitment to community means to them.
St. Margaret’s Upper School celebrated academic pursuit and a commitment to community last week during its fall Honors Assembly in Hurlbut Theater.
The assembly featured speeches by two seniors, who shared what commitment to community means to them. Samantha Hasani explained that in moments of vulnerability, she feels the support and power of the school community.
“St. Margaret’s is a place because of its people-it is a shared identity,” she said. “I don’t just go here; I am a part of it, and it a part of me.”
Marek Magaña also spoke of community, noting his own talent in music as contributing to the community just as everyone else’s gifts collectively contribute to St. Margaret’s.
“By simply doing what you love, and sharing it with others, you are already doing more than enough to keep the community together through whatever it may face,” Marek said.
Afterward, sophomore Nate Kang played a moving piano solo of Scott Joplin’s Magnetic Rag to a thunderous ovation.
