Tartan Soccer Programs Off to a Quick Start

St. Margaret's begins the 2019-2020 campaign on the right foot.
St. Margaret's soccer programs opened the 2019-2020 season poised to repeat the success enjoyed the previous year.

Girls Soccer

St. Margaret's defeated Westview High School 1-0 on Dec. 3 to open the season on a winning note. Julia Olosky slotted home the game-winner on a beautiful assist by Liesel Blau. Juliet Ballard and Megan Kenner combined for 10 shots on goal. Goalkeeper Kennedy Barlow kept a clean sheet, stopping six shots for the Tartans.

St. Margaret's returns to the pitch on Friday, Dec. 6, continuing play in the Cathedral Catholic Tournament in San Diego.

Boys Soccer

The Tartans began the year 1-1-1 after falling to Tesoro 1-0 on Nov. 22, defeating Dana Hills 3-1 on Nov. 26 and drawing Crean Lutheran 1-1 on Dec. 3. Matt Groeninger leads the Tartans in scoring with three goals, including a successful PK against Dana Hills.

The Tartans will look to capitalize on the early-season momentum as they take on Capistrano Valley High at home on Friday, Dec. 6 at 6 p.m.
