Tartan Defense Pitches Second Shutout In 56-0 Rout of The Webb Schools
St. Margaret's continues to roll through league competition.
The Tartans pulled out their second shutout in as many league games, blanking The Webb Schools 56-0 on Friday evening. The road trip proved successful for St. Margaret's, improving to 8-1 overall and 2-0 in San Joaquin League play.
St. Margaret's defense again led the charge, stymieing the Gauls at every turn. Benton Barlow, Shane Dzwilewski, Cadem McGlinn and Makai Todd each contributed two tackles to help the defensive effort. Matt Stevenson notched a sack while Owen Binder brought down an interception in the win.
Offensively, the Tartans were unstoppable, amassing 49 points by half time. Each Tartan quarterback threw for touchdowns (Jake Carreon 8/13 192yds 3 TD, Jake Black 3/3 100 yds 2 TD 1 rush TD, Jack Ruff 2/6 16yds 1TD) to keep the offense rolling. A host of Tartan receivers contributed to the effort with Will Kenner( 8 catches 157 yards 3 TD), Cooper Barkate (1 catch 69 yards 1TD), Will Stahl (1 catch 45 yards 1TD) and Derek Smith (1 catch 7 yards 1 TD) leading the wideout corps. Lincoln Dodd rushed for 122 yards on three carries, scoring on one. Kicker Cameron Shirangi was perfect, going 7/7 on PAT's.
The Tartans will play for the league title on Friday, November 1, facing Capistrano Valley Christian at San Clemente High School. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
