Tartans Sink SVCS 35-0 to Open League Schedule

St. Margaret's rolled over the Warriors Friday evening.
The Tartans launched the 2019 league campaign on the right foot Friday, defeating cross-town opponent Saddleback Valley Christian 35-0 on Tartan Field. 7-1 St. Margaret's is looking to make a deep run in the Div. VI CIF-SS playoffs.
 
St. Margaret's defense kept a clean sheet, powered by Kyle Juergens, who contributed nine tackles and two sacks. Nick Ostlund was a force for the Tartans, notching five tackles, one sack and a fumble recovery for a touchdown. Will Stahl added an interception for the Tartans.
 
Offensively, St. Margaret's spread the wealth among receivers with Will Kenner (6 catches, 107 yards, 1TD), Cooper Barkate (3 catches, 38 yards, 1TD) Parker Hogan (1 catch, 34 yards, 1TD) all scoring for the Tartans. Halfback Matt Stevenson rushed for 33 yards on four attempts, adding a touchdown on the ground. Quarterback duties were split among Jake Carreon (5/8 82 yards 2 TD), Jake Black (5/10 86 yards 1 TD) and Jack Ruff (2/2 30 yards). Cameron Shirangi was 5/5 on PAT's.
 
St. Margaret's will take its 1-0 league record on the road to face The Webb School on Friday, Oct. 25. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.
