St. Margaret's celebrated its seniors with a league win Thursday night.
St. Margaret's volleyball program celebrated eight senior members with a 3-0 win against Capistrano Valley Christian on Thursday evening in Pasternack Field House. The team also recognized Breast Cancer Awareness Month by donning special pink uniforms for the match.
Seniors Serena Carson, Jalyn Chun, Avery Clarke, Mary Collier, Kyla Cruse, Emerson Flornes, Olivia Hale and Hannah Phillips have contributed much to the Tartan volleyball program and were recognized along with their parents before the match.
It was all St. Margaret's once the festivities were over as the Tartans dominated three games 25-6, 25-22 and 25-8 to take the match. St. Margaret's was led by Emerson Flornes (19 kills), Kyla Cruse (6 kills) and Mary Collier (6 kills). Jalyn Chun was efficient setting the offense up and had a great serving outing with three service aces.
"Extraordinary night for our eight seniors. We performed at a high level, and it was fun watching our seniors put forth great individual performances," said head coach Joaquin Acosta. "As a team, I really like where we are at. We've put together back-to-back strong serving matches, which gives us a lot of confidence as we head into the final week of the regular season. I like our chances."
The Tartans are looking forward to a crucial league title game on Tuesday, Oct. 15, when they take on Saddleback Valley Christian on the road. Match time is set for 6 p.m.
