Tartans Eye Upcoming Homecoming and League Opponents

St. Margaret's football team is 5-1 as it rounds out the non-league schedule.
The Tartan football team is gearing up to take on visiting St. Joseph in the 2019 Homecoming game on Friday, Oct. 11. St. Margaret's is looking to cap off a successful non-league campaign which has seen the Tartans take down some big out-of-league and conference opponents. The Tartans' most recent outing resulted in a 48-7 win over visiting Bellflower High School.

In that game, St. Margaret's was led by receiver Will Kenner's 197 yards, four-touchdown performance as the Tartan offense rolled. Quarterback Jake Carreon threw for 254 yards and four touchdowns with a 100% completion percentage and also added a rushing touchdown. Running backs Matt Stevenson and Parker Hogan contributed scores on the ground for the Tartans.

Defensively, St. Margaret's received big games from Shane Dzwilewski (6 tackles, 1.5 sacks), Kyle Juergens (7 tackles) and Caden Smith (7 tackles).

"What is special about Homecoming is our seniors, this will be their last," said head football coach Kory Minor. "That being said, every single member of the team knows their role: win for the seniors, period!"

The Tartans will take on 3-3 St. Joseph of Santa Maria in front of a packed Tartan Field crowd on Friday, Oct. 11, at 7 p.m.
