Tartan Band Students Perform National Anthem at Angels Game—See the Video and Photos!

Students from grade 6 band, grade 7 band, concert band and jazz ensemble performed, collaborating with bands from other Orange County schools for the national anthem.
More than 70 Upper and Middle School band students had a performance to remember on Saturday, as they played “The Star-Spangled Banner” in front of thousands of fans at the Los Angeles Angels game at Angel Stadium.

Students from grade 6 band, grade 7 band, concert band and jazz ensemble performed, collaborating with bands from other Orange County schools for the national anthem. The students rehearsed in the parking lot before the game, before going onto the field and performing on the outfield warning track.

The performance presented some unique challenges. Students had to play through slapback and echo from the large stadium and its sound system during the performance.

“It was such a neat experience and a challenge for our students to overcome,” St. Margaret’s band director Chris Carbajal said. “I am very proud of the job they did.”
