The Rt. Rev. Rowan Williams, spent the day at St. Margaret’s Episcopal School on Wednesday as part of a four-day visit to the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles.
Sharing a message of community and togetherness with students and the professional community, the 104th Archbishop of Canterbury, The Rt. Rev. Rowan Williams, spent the day at St. Margaret’s Episcopal School on Wednesday, as part of a four-day visit to the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles.
Archbishop Williams was the honored guest at Middle School Chapel where he delivered a captivating homily to students about loving and valuing those around you, emphasizing how others help you to be who you are and how every person holds an important place in building a community that works together. Afterwards, students eagerly waited to express their appreciation and to meet the Archbishop in the Fountain Courtyard.
The Reverend Canon Robert Edwards, Rector of St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church said of Archbishop Williams’ visit, “He is a living icon and he reminds us that holiness is contagious. When you are with him you feel holy.”
Accompanied by The Rt. Rev. Diane M. Jardine Bruce, Bishop Suffragan of the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, Archbishop Williams also spoke with Upper School religion and philosophy classes, toured the campus with St. Margaret’s Admission Ambassadors and met with school academic leaders and chaplains during his visit. He shared with school leaders that he was impressed by the unique benefits and qualities of St. Margaret’s early childhood through Upper School community.
“It was a tremendous honor for the St. Margaret’s community to host and welcome such an esteemed guest on our campus. It was clear by the warm and enthusiastic embrace that the students and members of the professional community gave Archbishop Williams that they felt the power and grace of his presence and message of community. We are deeply grateful to Archbishop Williams and Bishop Bruce for taking time to visit St. Margaret’s on their tour of the diocese,” said Head of School Will Moseley.
