Tartans Roll El Toro 49-16

St. Margaret's offense put up big numbers in the road win.
The Tartans were firmly in the driver's seat in a 49-16 non-league win against Div. IV opponent El Toro on Friday night. St. Margaret's dominated on both sides of the ball to improve to 3-1 on the year.

Offensively, St. Margaret's received a big game from quarterback Jake Carreon who threw for 294 yards on 28 completions with five touchdowns. Carreon's favorite target was Will Kenner who hauled in four receiving touchdowns and 188 yards. Wideout Cooper Barkate was also stellar for the Tartans, notching 119 receiving yards and two touchdowns while also contributing 100 return yards and a kick return for a touchdown. Barkate also threw for a touchdown in the first half. Matt Stevenson led the Tartan ground game, rushing for 47 yards on 12 attempts.

Defensively, the Tartans were stingy all evening, hold the Chargers to three points until late in the third quarter. St. Margaret's was led by Caden Smith's nine tackles and sacks by Sean Sullivan and Eliot Edward. Cooper Barkate contributed an interception to help the defensive cause.

Kicker Cameron Shirangi was seven for seven on PAT's and had three touchbacks in the win.

St. Margaret's will return to Tartan Field to face Santa Fe Christian on Friday, September 27 at 7 p.m.
