St. Margaret's Announces Hire of Jennifer Anderson-Hammond as Head Girls Soccer Coach

Jennifer Anderson-Hammond brings a wealth of coaching and playing experience to the program.
St. Margaret's Episcopal School is pleased to announce that Jennifer Anderson-Hammond has been named head coach of the Tartan girls soccer program.

Anderson-Hammond currently serves as a coach for Pateadores Soccer Club Academy U15 program in Costa Mesa. Previously, Anderson-Hammond was the Director of Coaching Personnel for Chelsea Soccer Club in Yorba Linda from 2010 through 2017 and head girls varsity coach at El Toro High School from 2010 to 2012.

Anderson-Hammond served as an assistant coach at Eastern Illinois University and the University of Kansas as well as Director of Soccer Operations at Kansas.

Anderson-Hammond competed at the professional level for the Orange County Waves, winning the WPSL National Championship in 2011; Buffalo Flash, winning the USL W-League Championship in 2010 and was the No. 22 overall draft pick for Sky Blue FC of the Women's Professional Soccer League in 2009.

While playing for Clemson University, Anderson-Hammond achieved the ACC Academic Honor Roll in 2001 and 2003.

Anderson-Hammond will replace Johnny Marmelstein, who stepped down after guiding the Tartans to four CIF-SS Championships and a SoCal Regional CIF Championship in 2019.

"I am very excited to be joining the St. Margaret's family. This is a terrific opportunity, and I look forward to the challenge of building off of the program’s success under coach Marmelstein," said Anderson-Hammond. "There is a wealth of talent here at St. Margaret's, and I look forward to working with the student-athletes. I want to thank Head of School William Moseley and Director of Athletics Patrick Bendzick for giving me the opportunity to lead these young women.”

"Coach Hammond's playing career and professional experience are extraordinary. But what separated her from a very deep pool of candidates was her student-athlete-centered approach to coaching," said Director of Athletics Patrick Bendzick. "Coach Hammond truly understands our players, the mission of the school, and what it takes to compete at a high level. We are fortunate to have her at St. Margaret's and look forward to her mentorship of this outstanding group of young ladies."
