Tartan Swimming and Diving Team Battling Through League Schedule

St. Margaret's received strong efforts in the pool against Webb on Tuesday.
The Tartans traveled to The Web School in Upland for a San Joaquin League meet on March 26, coming away with impressive results.

The boys were led by junior Owen Young who took first in the 200 freestyle and 100 backstroke, dipping under the CIF consideration time standards in both events. He was joined by captain Nate Mouchawar who swam a lifetime best of 24.08 in the 50 freestyle, moving him into the top 10 fastest Tartans ever in that event.

Junior Jacqueline Leung was the only double event winner for the Tartans as she took the 100 backstroke in a season best of 1:11.78. She teamed up with teammates Whitney Kaemmer, Grace Zhou, and Amelia Kang to out touch Webb in the 400 freestyle relay.

In diving, freshman Celeste Taylor claimed another win, outscoring her closest competitor by 110 points.

"We’ve made a conscious effort to focus on strength and conditioning this season, both in and out of the water," said head coach Edmund Herlihy. "The team has shown significant drops in time across the board, and we’re excited to see that trend continue through league finals and CIF Championships."

The Tartans next take on Connelly at Saddleback College on Friday, March 29 at 3:30 p.m.
