Track & Field Posts Convincing Numbers In League Meet Win

The Tartans dominated the competition, with both programs coming away with league wins.
At the second San Joaquin League meet of the year, St. Margaret's were the clear victors with the girls program posting a 112-point victory over second place Sage Hill School and the boys winning with a 61-point margin of victory over second place The Webb School.

The Tartan middle distance runners were dominant, taking six of the top eight spots in the Girls 800 and four of the top six spots in the boys 800.

Andi Carnell was a double winner, posting a controlled 5:30 to win the 1600m and a 2:29 to win the 800m. Jackson Adelman achieved the same in the boys 800 and 3200, nearly cracking the two-minute barrier in his first 800m ever. Adelman was following a solid 4:29 winning effort in the 1600m at the Laguna Beach Trophy Invitational on Saturday.

Celeste Taylor remains undefeated on the season in the pole vault. The freshman cleared 10-4 and then posted three very solid attempts at a school record height of 10-7.

Alex Lanham ran a blistering second leg of the 4x100m to help the Tartans to a comfortable win in that event, returning later in the meet to win the 200m. Lanham contributed an incredible 36 total points on the day.

Kyle Juergens continues to be the dominant thrower in the league, winning the shot put by over 6 feet.

The Tartans will return to competition at the Mt. Carmel Invitational in San Diego on Saturday, March 23.
