Hundreds of St. Margaret’s community members came together for a night of fun, friendship and generous support of St. Margaret’s Episcopal School during the 2019 all-school fundraiser Forever Plaid: Mountainside at the Fashion Island Hotel in Newport Beach.

Gathering in a ski lodge setting wearing cabin chic apparel, attendees could bid on hundreds of live and silent auction items donated by St. Margaret’s families, as well as pledge support toward this year’s Fund A Need, an initiative to grow and strengthen the school’s Annual Fund. In total, more than $230,000 was raised for the Annual Fund alone.

“Mountainside was a wonderful celebration of St. Margaret’s and our special community,” Head of School Will Moseley said. “We are very grateful for the efforts of PTF President Jill Golubow, Event Chair Margo Gunderson and the dedicated volunteers who made this an extraordinary event. The generosity demonstrated toward our school and students was moving, and we are so thankful for it.”

The program started with a blessing by The Reverend James Livingston, a welcome by Mr.l Moseley, and a toast by Board of Trustees President Paul Westhead to the fellowship and celebration of the evening and the St. Margaret’s community.

After a fantastic family lodge-style dinner, dessert buffet and a lively auction led by master of ceremonies Darcy Rice and auctioneer Grant Snyder, The Kelly Rae Band entertained the crowd as participants filled the dance floor for a fun and festive conclusion to the evening.

“There are so many wonderful people who helped make this night a success,” Mrs. Golubow said. “Event Chair Margo Gunderson was instrumental in all aspects of organizing this event, and she led a dedicated team of parent volunteers who donated their time and energy. In addition, we are so thankful to the attendees who came and showed their generosity and support toward St. Margaret’s and our children.”

Forever Plaid: Mountainside owes its success to the many generous donations from families, friends and corporate sponsors. View the volunteers, sponsors and underwriters by clicking here.

Also, a big thank-you to the St. Margaret’s students who participated in the film shown at the event, as well as those who contributed visual arts decorations that contributed to the beautiful lodge setting.
