With the wins, Nate qualified for the Junior Varsity National Championships, which will take place in Washington, D.C., in April.

During the competitions, which have a buzzer-based format and head-to-head matchups, Nate answered questions about a variety of topics in both U.S. and world history, ranging from Renaissance art to the U.S. Civil War. Representing St. Margaret’s as a one-person team in the history bowl, Nate won a close final round against Arcadia High School to give St. Margaret’s the JV title. He then won the history bee (the individual competition) in another close final.

The History Bee and Bowl program at St. Margaret’s is part of the Upper School history club, which Nate helped create this school year. Though Nate competed as a solo team in the San Diego regional, St. Margaret’s will have a delegation at the Southern California Championship which takes place later this month in Arcadia.
