St. Margaret’s Hosts Inspiring ‘Celebration of WE’ Student Event

The event featured keynote speakers at Hurlbut Theater and breakout sessions across campus that inspired and empowered students to make positive changes in their community.
St. Margaret’s hosted a “Celebration of WE” event last week, as students from across Southern California connected and shared success stories and WE-inspired ideas of creating positive social change in the world.

The event was attended by 22 Tartans who are members of the Middle School WE club, in addition to more than 200 students from schools in Orange, San Diego and Riverside counties.

The event featured keynote speakers at Hurlbut Theater and breakout sessions across campus that inspired and empowered students to make positive changes in their community, which aligns with the mission of the WE movement. Grade 8 student Jake Reeves was one of the presenters, as he spoke about St. Margaret’s WE club and the ideas and programs being pursued.

St. Margaret’s is a designated WE school, and incorporates WE educational resources in multiple Upper School courses in addition to the Middle School WE club.

“WE reached out wanting our school to host a celebration that inspires and empowers students to be involved in service and doing good in our community and around the world,” said Middle School teacher Veronica Johns-Richardson, who sponsors the Middle School WE club. “We were thrilled and excited to be a part of this great event.”

St. Margaret’s WE club currently is fundraising for its global initiative to provide lunches for students in Ecuador.
