The 16th annual Coffee House Cabaret concluded four sold-out shows in the McGregor Family Theater last week, with 34 auditioned acts of Upper School students.
The program featured a lineup of performances selected, written or choreographed by the students. The vocal and instrumental pieces included songs from musicals such as The Princess and the Frog, A Bronx Tale, Hairspray, Wicked and A Chorus Line, and renditions of classic songs from artists like Bob Dylan, Prince, Queen and Elvis Presley.Classical pieces included works by Mozart and Chopin.
In all, 45 students performed, including 11 seniors performing in their final Coffee House Cabaret: Elyse Bryant, Gilbert Chung, Miranda Gilbert, Kayla Leahy, Elena Plumb, Layla Shakerin, Emily Sun, Sarah Thurin, Drew Vollero, Natalie Yee and Kevin Zhu.
The vocalists and instrumentalists were accompanied by the Coffee House Cabaret House Band, directed by Chris Carbajal and featuring students Gavin Ashman, Shea Tomaselli, Julia Schulze, Brayden Windes and Marek Magaña. In addition, Tony Cinquini added his expertise on the bass along with accompanist Lex Leigh. Sophomore James Kim was the MC.
Event co-chairs Elizabeth Plumb and Susan Giusto along with PTF Arts Alliance volunteers, created a classy atmosphere for audience members who dined on appetizers, desserts and beverages from White House Catering.
