Tartans Inch Closer to CIF Title With 50-47 Win Over Canyon Country

Girls Basketball will face Leuzinger in the Semis.
St. Margaret's girls basketball program took another step towards a CIF-SS Championship by defeating Canyon of Santa Clarita 50-47 in the quarterfinal round on Wednesday.
 
In front of a rowdy Cowboy crowd, the Tartans faced off against a talented, well-coached Canyon Squad. St. Margaret's delivered a gritty result, committing fully to the game plan. Taylor Francois led with 17 points while Jayden Witten added 15 points for the Tartans. Annika Tufo rounded out the Tartans' offensive efforts with 14 points in the win.
 
The win propels the Tartans into the CIF-SS Div. III Semifinals as well as a berth in the CIF State Playoffs, the third appearance in four seasons for St. Margaret's. The team is set to face Leuzinger High School on the road on Saturday, Feb. 21.
