Songs for a New World, by Jason Robert Brown, is a musical in a song cycle format. Each song in the series tells a story through a different character’s eyes. As the audience follows on the musical journey, our imaginations discover the common thread. For this production, Brown composed his songs about moments in life when disaster strikes and individuals are forced to make a choice. He presents these moments like snapshots taken in times of turmoil. We experience how the characters navigate their way through them and ultimately survive. This message of survival and hope is needed now more than ever. There is light. And in the end, “we’ll be fine”.

Our cast of 24 performers (see the cast here) will perform from the Nolet Amphitheater, and their outstanding talent will be streamed live by a professional production company. This production incorporates incredible projections and dancers performing original choreography, including pieces created by SMES seniors as part of their capstone projects. Senior Espen Garner stage manages. Rated PG. Click here to view the poster. Click here to view the playbill.
