Head of School Search Update: Community Input Survey #1

Dear St. Margaret’s Families,

On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we are honored to serve as co-chairs of the Search Committee for St. Margaret’s next Head of School, and we are committed to organizing a thorough and inclusive search process.  We are writing today to provide an update on the Head of School search and invite you to participate in a community survey intended to help shape our candidate profile.

Since announcing on October 26, that the Board would be leading the transition to our next Head of School, we’ve reached a number of critical milestones:
  • Hired search partner, Spencer Stuart
  • Launched Search Committee
  • Engaged senior administrative team to inform search strategy and role profile
  • Developed a three-phased search process with timeline
  • Launching today the Head of School Search page on mySMES (for current families and professional community) and smes.org to support candidate inquiries and keep our community updated on progress

Today, we are also taking another important step in our process, launching the first of two surveys to seek your input and ensure our search is reflective of the views of our St. Margaret’s community. Please click the link below to provide your feedback for Survey #1, open today (for current families and professional community), which is focused on defining the qualities, characteristics and specifications for the Head of School position. We will deploy Survey #2 in January and it will focus on community cultural fit. The team at Spencer Stuart will use these inputs to inform the search strategy and candidate development.

Additionally, candidate nominations, comments and requests for information should be directed, in confidence, to smeshos@spencerstuart.com. We also welcome you to contact us directly if you have any questions or feedback.

It is important to us that all members of the St. Margaret’s community have a voice in shaping the qualities of our next Head of School and your feedback will have a meaningful impact. Thank you in advance for your participation in the survey and ongoing support of the Board of Trustees’ search process.

Best,

Cathy Stahl
