Tartans Return to Form in 41-7 Home Win Over Salesian

The Tartans bounced back from a tough 12-13 road loss against Grace Brethren last week with a 41-7 win against Salesian High School Friday night on Tartan Field. A combined offensive and defensive effort powered St. Margaret's in the win.
Senior quarterback James Mott had a solid game for the Tartans, with 12/25 completions for 164 yards and three touchdowns. Koa Todd (2/86), Alex Lanham (3/65) and Will Riddle (2/44) all contributed a touchdown reception on the night. Lanham also scored a rushing touchdown while gaining 70 yards on the ground.
Defensively the Tartans were stifiling all evening, holding Salesian scoreless until late in the fourth quarter. St. Margaret's was led by senior defensive back Alex Smith with five tackles and one interception return for a touchdown. Koa Todd was stellar at outside linebacker, notching three tackles, three assists, one tackle for loss and one sack. Sean Sullivan and Paul Hogan contributed three tackles and one assist each.
Looking for redemption after last week's close loss, St. Margaret's special team units were a bright spot in the win. Langston Sholl had a big blocked punt while kicker Chris Vartanian was 5/5 on PAT's, 2/2 on field goals and with six touchbacks.
The 3-1 Tartans will travel to San Diego to face The Bishop's School at La Jolla High School on Saturday, September 15 at 6:30 p.m.
