Tartans Triumphant Over Sage Hill

St. Margaret's boys basketball, boys soccer and girls soccer notched wins against Sage Hill School on Friday.
Boys Basketball
 
In front of a spirited home crowd, the Tartans downed Sage Hill 63-58 this past Friday night. It was a great night for St. Margaret's as it hosted "Fan Night," attracting Tartans young and old to Pasternack Fieldhouse for an evening of Academy League basketball.
 
The Tartans were led by Jack Wohlgemuth's 17 points with Jay Phansalkar contributing 16. Ryan Cragun and Will Kenner anchored the defense for the Tartans and had nine points each.
 
St. Margaret's will pick up again against Crean Lutheran in a crucial league showdown at home on Tuesday, February 6 at 7:30 p.m.
 
Boys Soccer
 
St. Margaret's put together a total team effort to stymie Sage Hill 3-1 at home on Friday. Goalkeeper Gordon Larson put on a Senior Night show, keeping a clean sheet till late in the second half when the Lightning scored on a penalty kick. R.J. Egdorf got the scoring started for the Tartans with a quick strike shortly after the opening whistle. Trevor Peay cut through the defense to make it 2-0 midway through the first half as the Tartans continued to dominate at midfield.
 
The second half was more of the same for St. Margaret's, relentlessly attacking the lightning goal before Chris Vartanian directed a rebound off the head to make it 3-0 Tartans.
 
St. Margaret's will next face Academy League opponent Crean Lutheran on the road, Tuesday, February 6 at 3 p.m.

Girls Soccer
 
A defensive battle resulted in a 1-0 overtime win for the Tartans on Friday night. Lauren Otterbein sent a blistering shot home to deliver St. Margaret's the win and sole possession of the Academy League Championship.

The Tartans will complete the Academy League run with games against Crean Lutheran (2/6) and Whitney High School (2/8).
