Senior James Mott took full advantage of an opportunity to showcase his talents on a larger stage in front of a crowd of 4,000 at the 60th Orange County All-Star Classic on Saturday, Jan. 26. The Tartan quarterback was 9-18 passing for 151 yards and two touchdowns as the South defeated the North 16-7.

Mott connected with receiver Arick McLawyer of Huntington Beach High, who the Tartans defeated 28-17 in the first round of the CIF-SS Playoffs this past fall, for a touchdown late in the first quarter. Mott quickly followed it up with a 36-yard touchdown strike to Jaydel Jenkins of San Clemente High midway through the second quarter to put the South squad up 13-0.

The victory marked the fifth consecutive win for the South, which leads the series 31-26-3 all-time.
