As we celebrate the 25th anniversary of St. Margaret’s Episcopal School, I wish to extend a warm welcome to all members of the school community and to all visitors to this home page. It is with deep respect and appreciation for the school’s mission and history that we dedicate the 2004-05 school year to a celebration and acknowledgement of twenty-five years of faithful service to young people. Founded in 1979 when seventy-nine students joined founding Headmaster The Reverend Canon Ernest D. Sillers, St. Margaret’s has experienced remarkable success in a relatively short period of time. Enrollment has grown to 1200, the campus has been expanded and enriched through the construction of a superb physical plant, a distinguished and talented faculty has been firmly established, and the school has risen to a level of national prominence under the extraordinary leadership of Rev. Sillers and his successor of seventeen years, Markham B. Campaigne.  I am deeply honored to follow in their footsteps and committed to sustaining their remarkable work.

While nothing takes the place of a genuine immersion into the life of a school, technology has afforded us with a wonderful opportunity to provide a comprehensive overview of the many facets of St. Margaret’s that bring value and meaning to members of our school community. Many people have joined together to produce what we hope you will find an informative and stimulating exploration of life at St. Margaret’s today.  As we celebrate our 25th year, this site will continue to be used as a basis for communication on a variety of levels from the presentation of interesting and timely educational issues and concerns to regular posting of calendars and school events. In addition, we look forward to staying in touch with our many alumni through this medium as they move on with their lives beyond St. Margaret’s.

I very much look forward to the 2004-05 school year. For new and returning families, please feel free to visit my office or contact me via email at Marcus.Hurlbut@smes.org. For families beginning to explore the opportunities afforded at St. Margaret’s, I encourage you to arrange a visit through our admissions office.
