Rise to Rebellion

Throughout the novel, many inspiring and amazing characters come to life. You’ve heard of all them before. However, the author gives you a greater sense of who they are as people, as political figures, and leaders during the tumultuous times leading up to the Revolutionary War and fight for independence.

As you read the novel this summer, consider one of the characters in greater detail. Then, journal and reflect on their role in each of the events that are chronicled throughout the book. The following list of questions can help you think about “what to write”.

n Do you respect the efforts of this individual during this event?

n Would you have followed in this persons footsteps (i.e. do you agree with their beliefs and actions?)

n Do you think this was helpful in the overall effort to earn independence?

n What character traits do you see in this individual?

n Did this person demonstrate courage during the event? Would you have acted in such a way?
