St. Margaret's is pleased to introduce four new coaches to the Upper School Athletic Program. Cassie Frost, Oscar Reyes, Scott Wallis and Staciana Winfield all bring with them impressive resumes and enthusiasm for athletics at St. Margaret's.

Cassie Frost - Equestrian

Coach Frost has imported and trained over 80 European sport horses, with winning results at all levels of competition in both the hunter and jumper arenas. Frost was mentored by retired Grand Prix rider George Meyer and currently trains Meyer's Grand Prix Horses. Coach Frost is a University of California, Irvine graduate and has owned equestrian businesses in Alabama, California and Tennessee.

“I am excited to begin the process of teaching the student-athletes how to set appropriate short- and long-term goals for both enjoyment and success in the sport. Balancing the two ultimately leads to an incredible experience and a very competitive team," said Coach Frost.

Oscar Reyes - Soccer

Coach Reyes will join the boys soccer program this winter while also playing as a defenseman on the U.S. Beach Soccer National Team. Reyes brings a wealth of experience to the Tartans, previously playing professionally in Hungary (Kaposvari Rakoczi FC) and the Netherlands (JOS Watergraafsmeer ) as well as for the Professional Indoor Soccer League’s Anaheim Bolts. Reyes attended UCLA as a member of the 2008-2011 Bruin soccer teams and was an under-17 U.S. National Team member. Reyes has also served as Director of Player Development for FC Golden State - Orange County.

"It comes with a lot of excitement of course. St Margaret’s has all the resources to be a powerhouse in all sports. We want to create an atmosphere where players will enjoy playing for their high school and continue to grow as not only players but young adults as well. It will be exciting to help our players prepare for the next chapter in their lives, which hopefully is collegiate soccer," said Reyes.

Scott Wallis - Baseball

Coach Wallis, a St. Margaret's parent, will help guide the Tartan baseball program this upcoming spring. Wallis had previously spent seven years coaching Trinity League baseball at Santa Margarita Catholic High School and JSerra Catholic High School and has been the Director of the ASD Bulldogs club program for 14 years. ASD boasts three Bulldog alums among the ranks of Major League Baseball. Coach Wallis attended the University of Hawaii, Hilo and was a member of the Vulcans’ baseball program.

Coach Wallis said, “As a St. Margaret’s parent for the past seven years, I'm grateful and blessed to have this opportunity and look forward to building this program into one the entire Tartan community can be proud of.”

Staciana Winfield - Swimming and Diving

Coach Winfield currently serves as an Instructional Aide in St. Margaret's Lower School and will join the Tartan Swiming and Diving programs this spring. Winfield is an Olympic gold medalist for the United States, competing in the 4x100 medley relay at the 2000 Olympics. Patrick Bendzick, Director of Athletics and Physical Education, remarked about the recent hires, “St. Margaret’s is very fortunate to have such a gifted and accomplished group of individuals working with our student-athletes. Although their coaching and competitive backgrounds are second to none, it’s their stellar character and dedication to the development of high school athletes that makes them the right fit for our staff.”
