Technology for Teaching and Learning

William N. Moseley, Head of School

“Through technology and connectivity we have entered an era that allows for new modernization of education models and redefining the learning experience for students who are most capable of navigating these new times.”
Unlike our experience, our children have always lived in a technological world. Our students require and thrive in technology-rich, dynamic learning environments. St. Margaret’s continues to evolve and reimagine learning spaces across our campus and bring leading technology and tools to meet the needs of these digital natives. Our state-of-the-art computing environment and robust wireless infrastructure throughout our 22-acre campus, provide students access at their fingertips to robust resources that support their digital literacy and teaching and learning across all disciplines.

The classrooms at St. Margaret’s are modern, technology-enriched learning spaces that allow for heightened connectivity to networks, interactivity among devices in the room, wireless display capabilities, and collaboration among students and teachers. Our faculty have demonstrated their clear ability to rethink pedagogy and curriculum with an aim toward using technology to enhance the learning experience and prepare students for learning and working in the technologically world.

St. Margaret’s has created three innovative design and fabrication labs with state-of-the-art fabrication equipment, and the Library Learning Commons open to all students. Our educators pioneered a one-to-one device program in grades 2-12, students in grades 2 students learn on laptops and in grades 3 – 5, students work on Microsoft Surface tablets. Our BYOi (bring your own iPad) program for Middle School students began in 2012 enhancing student learning, engagement, organization, access to information and ease of technology integration in the classroom and at home. In Upper School, the BYOD (bring your own device) program empowers students to use their own technology and customize it to their learning needs.
