Fun in the Sun for Mountain A Girls’ Volleyball Team
Tartan middle school volleyball team takes home third place.
The Mountain Girls’ Volleyball Team spent their Saturday in Anaheim at the St. Barbara Volleyball Tournament held at Connelly High School. The tournament consisted of 10 parochial schools from around northern Orange County. The big surprise of the day was that the tournament was held outside on the blacktop. Little did they know that they would need sunglasses and sunscreen to do well in this tournament. With five teams in their pool, the Tartans won their first three matches easily. The last match of pool play put them up against a strong team from St. Irenaeus. After a three-game battle, the Tartans fell short losing the match by a score of 18-25, 25-12, 13-15. The loss meant the team would place second in pool play. In playoffs, they rallied back to beat St. Angela and then lost in the semi-finals to the eventual champion, St. Bonaventure. All in all, it was a good day as the Tartans took home the trophy for third place.
