More than 120 golfers took part in a full day of events at El Niguel Country Club.
Monday’s Tartan Tee-Off Presented by the Kao Family Foundation was a celebrated gathering of St. Margaret’s community members, and raised more than $200,000 in support of student financial aid.

The event included a Meet & Greet BBQ, 18 holes of golf, a 19th hole Networking Reception, and a talk by Iliana Guadalupe ’13, who spoke to guests about her winning experience at St. Margaret’s as a scholarship recipient. She attributed her success as a UCI senior to the generosity of donors like those at the Tee-Off.

Not even a little misty rain at the start of the event could dissuade the enthusiasm felt by more than 120 golfers and scores more volunteers. After lunch, Head of School Will Moseley kicked off the tournament at El Niguel Country Club. He referenced a nod to our Scottish heritage as the bagpiper played and golfers clad in Nike Tee-Off polo shirts rolled their carts out to one of the 18 assigned holes adorned with tee-signs from generous sponsors.

Golfers were thankful for the tote swag bag and the amazing contents inside including tournament-branded Tee-Off golf balls and a Nike rain hood club cover.
Following the tournament, golfers met up at the 19th Hole networking reception, collected their foursome photos and soon thereafter headed into the dinner and awards program. Over a scrumptious Italian feast, celebrations ensued including the announcement of the tournament winners:

Overall Men’s – 1st Place: Macon Brock, Erik Jarvey, Todd Ricker, Perry Valaskantjis
Overall Women’s – 1st Place: Michelle Cox, Joyce Lee, Emily Maxey ’95, Kelly Parker
Closest to the Pin: David Cheng (6’) / Emily Maxey ’95 (14’7”)
Longest Drive: Tim McElfish / Kelly Parker
Putting Contest: Marc Sogatz

The evening concluded with donors generously contributing during dinner to Fund A Need in support of student financial aid, anchored by generous matching funds donated in advance of the event. The final element of the night following the announcement of the prize board winners was a huge thank you to all the Tartan Tee-Off Sponsors, volunteers and dedicated committee for their philanthropic support and leadership. A day that began with rain turned to sun, and that night the moon gleamed brightly on all the Tartan Tee-off supporters as they journeyed home.

Thank you to our major sponsors, including the Kao Family Foundation, Rimrock Capital, The Cox Family, Jay and Kelly Jacobs, Lugano Diamonds, Irvine BMW Rolls Royce and Mini, Waterfield Financial, Marron Lawyers and Executive Blue.
