Brian Carmer Named New Head Boys Basketball Coach

Director of Athletics, Susie Maga, would like to announce the hiring of Brian Carmer as our new Head Boys Basketball coach. From a pool of more than forty applicants, Carmer stood out as the clear person to lead the Tartan basketball program. Coach Carmer has spent the last 18 years coaching at Santa Margarita Catholic High School, the past 7 years as the co-head coach of their varsity program. During his coaching tenure at SMCHS the program achieved: 1 California State Title, 4 CIF Titles, participation in 7 CIF Championship Games and 8 consecutive years of reaching at least the CIF Quarterfinals.

He has a vast knowledge of basketball gained from coaching in the Trinity league and opposing the State's best programs for almost two decades. He has an uncanny ability to connect with his players and ensure they reach their full potential. Coach Carmer has also been hired to teach full-time in the Upper School History Department.

St. Margaret's is thankful for the 15 years that former Coach Billy Assaf gave to this program - he will be deeply missed.
